Print to remember: how a premium print project comes to life
Premium print is not created by a single effect. It is the result of a good idea, the right material, thoughtful design and precise production. Discover what makes a printed piece truly memorable.
Print that gets noticed
Some printed pieces deliver information and are soon forgotten. Others invite us to pick them up, turn them over, examine the details and remember them. Yet the difference begins long before printing itself.
A premium print project starts much earlier: with a good question, a clear purpose and an idea of the impression the finished piece should leave.
It might be an annual report, a calendar, a catalogue, an invitation, packaging or a high-quality corporate publication. In every case, the same principle applies: material, colour, surface and structure need to work together as a whole.
First, know what the project should communicate
Premium print is not about adding as many effects as possible. Every detail needs a reason to be there.
Before choosing paper or technology, we need to know:
- who the printed piece is for, - on what occasion they will receive it, - how it should make them feel at first contact, - which information they should remember, - how long the piece will be used and in what way.
An annual report, for example, should represent the company while remaining easy to navigate. A calendar needs to work throughout the year, but each page can offer a new visual experience. With packaging, both the first impression and the experience of opening it matter.
When we understand the purpose, we can choose a solution that is both attractive and functional.
Material is part of the design
What looks good on screen can behave very differently in print. Paper has its own colour, texture and thickness, as well as its own way of reflecting light and absorbing ink. It is therefore more than a surface for graphics: it is an integral part of the design.
A smooth surface can enhance crisp details and rich colours. A more pronounced texture adds character and a natural tactile experience. For publications, we also need to consider how they open, how the pages turn, their weight and their binding.
The right material can bring out the best in the finished piece. The wrong material can weaken a good design.
Special effects should support the idea
Depending on the project, we can work with gold or silver elements, spot varnish, embossing, laser cutting, special surfaces or a combination of materials.
An effect should not be an end in itself. It is a tool that helps guide attention, create contrast or highlight the most important element.
The best results often come from a finish that looks clean and simple at first glance, but reveals further layers and details on closer inspection.
Colour you need to see in person
Colours on a monitor are not the same as colours on a printed surface. The result depends on the paper, its finish and the printing technology itself.
For projects where accurate colour, striking shades or subtle gradients matter, we therefore recommend producing a test print. This allows different options to be compared and decisions to be made before the full print run goes into production.
Super Colour technology also gives us greater freedom to work with colour and bring creative designs to life that catch the eye at first glance.
A test print reduces uncertainty and makes decisions easier
A screen shows the design. A sample shows the actual result.
A test print lets us check legibility, colour, contrast, the size of details and how the paper works with the chosen finishes. It is often at this stage that we identify small changes that significantly improve the whole project.
A sample also makes decision-making easier. Instead of imagining the result, the client can hold the actual material and compare several options side by side.
One project, one shared story
A calendar or a print project created for a competition is a good example. Every page can be different, yet the finished piece still needs to feel coherent.
Colours, materials and details should not compete for attention. They should develop a shared idea. It is this combination of creative design, technological possibilities and precise production that turns an ordinary printed piece into an object people want to explore and keep.
What determines the result?
A high-quality premium project does not depend on one magical effect. It comes from several elements working together:
- a clear idea and purpose, - a design developed with production in mind, - suitable paper or another material, - thoughtful use of colour and surface finishes, - a test print and careful checking of details, - precise production and finishing.
When these decisions are made together and in the right order, the result feels natural and coherent. That is when it becomes memorable.
Planning your own premium print project?
If you are preparing an annual report, calendar, catalogue, packaging, invitation or another printed piece that represents your brand, we would be happy to explore the options for materials, colours, embellishments and production with you.
You do not need to have every technical detail worked out. A design or an initial idea is enough. Together, we will find a solution that works visually, in production and within your budget.
